For centuries, Dar Al-Kiswah stood at the heart of a tradition connecting Cairo
with the Holy Kaaba. Located in Al-Khurunfush, this historic building has been restored
and reimagined as a museum preserving the story of the Kiswah, from its preparation
to its ceremonial journey to the Holy Lands. ROWAD carried out meticulous restoration
and conservation of the building’s historic timberwork, from the shukhshaykha and
mashrabeya to its ornate ceilings, partitions, and geometric doors, safeguarding
the craftsmanship and heritage behind this remarkable chapter of Islamic history.
